Frequently Asked Questions
What is parent coaching?
Parent coaching is a supportive, collaborative process that helps parents better understand their child’s unique brain and behavior, develop practical skills, and build confidence in managing everyday challenges.
How is this different from therapy or counseling?
Parent coaching is not therapy. It’s practical, action-oriented support focused on problem-solving, skill-building, and moving forward. While therapy often explores past issues or emotional wounds, coaching helps you focus on the present and future—what’s happening now and what steps you can take to support your child and yourself more effectively.
Do you work directly with children too?
Yes, my practice offers three service options: one-on-one coaching for parents, family coaching sessions that include both parents and children, and individual coaching for children with ADHD. This allows me to support the whole family based on your specific needs.
What kinds of topics will we cover?
Each session is tailored to your family’s unique needs. Topics may include:
Understanding ADHD and how it shows up in your child
Managing distractibility, impulsivity, or emotional outbursts
Supporting executive function skills like organization and time management
Creating more peaceful routines and transitions
Navigating school challenges and advocating effectively
Strengthening your own emotional regulation and self-care
What is the format and how long is the program?
The full program runs for 10 weeks, with weekly 60-minute coaching sessions held virtually or in-person. You’ll receive resources, reflection prompts, and tools to support your learning in between sessions. Many families find that 10 weeks offers a powerful foundation—but follow-up sessions can always be added if you'd like to continue the work.
Is this program right for me if I’m already working with a therapist or my child is on medication?
Yes! Coaching works beautifully alongside other forms of support. In fact, research shows that when parent training or coaching is combined with therapy or medication for the child, outcomes improve. Coaching complements these approaches by giving you new strategies and emotional support as you navigate daily life.
Do you diagnose or treat ADHD?
No. I do not offer diagnostic or medical treatment services. Coaching is designed to be educational and supportive—not clinical. I work with families who already have a diagnosis, are in the process of getting one, or simply recognize ADHD-like traits and want tools to help.
I’m feeling overwhelmed. Will coaching just feel like one more thing on my plate?
That’s a common concern—and one I take seriously. Coaching is meant to make life feel lighter, not heavier. I meet you where you are, at a pace that feels manageable. Even small changes can make a big difference, and we’ll celebrate progress together as it unfolds.
What if I have questions or need support between sessions?
You’ll have the opportunity to email between sessions if needed. I know progress doesn’t happen in neat weekly blocks, so I’m here to support you throughout the process in ways that feel thoughtful and responsive.
How do I get started?
I’d love to learn more about your family and explore whether this program feels like a good fit. You can schedule a free discovery call to ask questions, share your concerns, and get a sense of what working together would look like. No pressure—just a conversation.
